The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on February 26 that several Indian support staff working with the Russian Army were discharged in response to India's request.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of External Affairs rejected the reports, citing them as 'Inaccurate'. The report claimed that the Indian embassy in Moscow had dealt with such cases strongly and that those brought to the attention of the ministry had been taken up with the Russian Embassy in New Delhi.
Earlier on Friday, New Delhi informed that they are constantly in touch with Moscow and urged Indian Nationals to stay away from the conflict zone in Ukraine. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "MEA is aware that some Indians are working as support staff to the Russian army in the conflict zone." The ministry added that they are fully committed to making sure that Indian nationals in the Russian army are discharged early. This is a top priority for them, and they will actively work with Russian authorities to achieve this goal. February 24, 2024, marked the second anniversary of Russia's 'full-scale invasion' in 2022.
Meanwhile, later in the day, around 20 European leaders are going to gather in Paris to send Russian President Vladimir Putin a message of European resolve on Ukraine.
